STEM-ADF images of monazite hosted in garnet (a, M15–FIB3b), quartz (b, M13–FIB1a) and coronitic texture (c, M6–FIB1c). All monazite grains contain features with size < 50 nm in diameter. Features with size > 50 nm are scarce (b). Contrasting dark and bright regions indicate that features comprise two-spatially-related distinct nanophases. Imaging of M15 and M13 monazite show high number of bright nanophases (arrows) compare to monazite M6 for the same surface area.
