Reconstructions of the Mediterranean domain since 35 Ma. Colored symbols represent magmatic bodies (plutonic, volcanic and unspecified) and their magmatic series. The details of the Western Mediterranean is shown in Figure 5. For details on the Aegean-Anatolia region the reader is referred to Menant et al. (2016a, 2016b). Alps and Carpathians not precisely reconstructed, only indicative. Light blue: oceanic crust; green: exhumed mantle; orange: thinned continental crust; pink: high-temperature metamorphic core complexes; deep blue: high-pressure and low-temperature metamorphic complexes; yellow: areas with active shortening.
