Alps and Carpathians not precisely reconstructed, only indicative. Light blue: oceanic crust; green: exhumed mantle; orange: thinned continental crust; pink: high-temperature metamorphic core complexes; deep blue: high-pressure and low-temperature metamorphic complexes; yellow: areas with active shortening.
