Affleurements, aspects macroscopiques des cuirasses. A : morphologie des collines cuirassées au sommet par un maximum de 5 m de formations ferrugineuses au-dessus d’un substratum limité par le tireté blanc (colline Est, Fig. 1C) ; B : substratum quartzitique des cuirasses, le contact (tireté blanc) est ici dégradé par le colluvionnement ; C : faciès bréchique de base des cuirasses présentant des clastes anguleux pluri-centimétriques de quartzites (Qtz) ; D : faciès sommital des cuirasses, mamelonné, à nodules ovoïdes et sans fragments de quartzite de grande taille ; E : section sciée d’un facies sommital présentant des nodules de même nature que la matrice (ma), entourés d’un fin cortex d’oxydes de fer (co) ainsi que des tubules (tu) de matériel jaunâtre plus argileux. Les cavités sphériques autour de clastes et les fractures les contournant suggèrent une dessiccation.

Spherical cavities around clasts and fractures around them suggest desiccation.
